Canadian–American Symposium on Cross-border Insolvency Law Co-Hosts

Annual Review of Insolvency Law

The Annual Review of Insolvency Law is the only refereed journal in Canada that is dedicated to insolvency law, with articles contributed by scholars, accounting and legal practitioners and members of the judiciary. Housed at UBC Faculty of Law, it is dedicated primarily to developments in Canadian personal and commercial insolvency, although it contains some comparative analysis as well. This conference marks the launch of the second volume of the Review.

American Bankruptcy Institute

ABI is the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency. ABI was founded in 1982 to provide Congress and the public with unbiased analysis of bankruptcy issues. The ABI membership includes over 10,500 attorneys, accountants, bankers, judges, professors, lenders, turnaround specialists and other bankruptcy professionals providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information.

Western Ontario

The University of Western Ontario is one of Canada’s largest research universities and is located in London, Ontario. A national school with an international outlook, the Faculty of Law has 34 full-time faculty members and an enrollment of about 500 students taking both the LL.B. and LL.M. degrees. The Faculty’s core curriculum is enhanced with areas of concentration in Business Law, Criminal Law, Taxation and Information & Technology Law, which allow students to attain depth in particular subject areas.

Canada–United States Law Institute

The Canada–United States Law Institute was established in 1976 to explore legal issues affecting the Canada–United States relationship and examine each country’s legal structures and processes. It operates an exchange of law students and faculty between Canada and the United States, publication of the Canada–United States Law Journal and sponsorship of the annual Niagara International Moot Court Competition, and organizes regular conferences and symposia on subjects of common interest. The Institute is a binational entity created by the law schools of the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Law and the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio.
