ADDRESS SYMPOSIUM

– Noted bankruptcy attorney, Janet Nesse, a partner at Stinson,
Morrison & Hecker in Washington, DC, will speak on “Looking
Ahead: Rebuilding While Reducing Future Hurricane Threats" at 1:15 p.m.
at the Women in Housing and Finance Inc. Fall Symposium tomorrow (Nov.
30). The symposium will be held at Venable LLP, Capital Room,
575 Seventh Street
NW, Washington, DC from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Nesse will speak on behalf of her firm
and the American Bankruptcy Institute, which recently donated $40,000 to
aid victims of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. Among topics addressed by
Nesse and other panel members include:
- Individual bankruptcies in the
affected region under the new Bankruptcy Code
- Treatment of individuals in
the hurricane-ravaged area who have defaulted on mortgages and other
property-secured loans
- Business
bankruptcies
- Bankruptcy issues for
nonprofits and local governments
Janet Nesse specializes in all
aspects of bankruptcy matters, and has served as a chapter 7 and chapter
11 trustee. She represents secured and unsecured creditors pursuing
claims in the bankruptcy and workout context. Her practice also includes
the representation of debtors, both in bankruptcy matters and in guiding
companies experiencing financial challenges through the workout process.
Nesse is particularly known for resolution of matters that require a
