Bankruptcy Institute Head Available to Comment on Confirmation Process
and Business Ramifications of Roberts Nomination
July 20, 2005, Alexandria,
Va. — Sam Gerdano, Executive Director
of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the largest multi-disciplinary,
non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters
related to insolvency, is available for comment and analysis regarding
the nomination of John G. Roberts to the Supreme Court, including
discussion of upcoming cases involving business
issues.
Gerdano was legal counsel to
the Senate Committee on the Judiciary from 1985-91, where he handled
five Supreme Court nominations: William Rehnquist, Antonin Scalia,
Robert Bork, Anthony Kennedy and David Souter.
Hearings on the Roberts nomination
before the Committee could begin in August. The new Supreme Court term,
which begins in October, will include two bankruptcy cases.
