The 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act

The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (Public Law 109–8) makes the most sweeping changes in a generation, affecting both consumer and business bankruptcies. Signed by the President on April 20, most of the provisions apply to cases filed 180 days thereafter, or October 17.
