Focus: Technology and Telecom Committee
For this issue of the newsletter, we interviewed William K. Snyder of CRG Partners LLC (Dallas), chair of the Technology and Telecom Committee. William told us about the committee’s plans and activities, and provided some great tips for young and new members of the ABI who would like to get more involved in the Technology and Telecom Committee.
What is the focus of the Technology and Telecom Committee?
This committee is focused on bankruptcy issues in Technology and Telecom cases as well as the ways in which technology can be used in bankruptcy cases. Intellectual property is an overriding issue in these cases and is a large focus of the committee. The application of technology in bankruptcy cases is a fun topic that can be addressed in many ways.
Who should want to join the Technology and Telecom Committee and why?
Anyone who has a PDA should join! Seriously, technology is so pervasive in the business that anyone can benefit from joining. Professionals in the M&A field dealing with technology and telecom companies would benefit from the committee, too.
What does the Technology and Telecom Committee do during the year?
The committee finds articles concerning relevant subjects and publishes four e-newsletters a year. Additionally, the committee hosts several panels a year at ABI conferences to discuss hot topics, at times in conjunction with other committees. This year, the committee plans to expand the social networking of its members, to establish regular communications and discussions of members through our listserve, and to undertake a special project.
Is there anything notable that the Technology and Telecom Committee has done recently that you would like highlighted?
The committee hosted a panel at the ABI Winter Leadership conference concerning getting ready for bankruptcy in a technology case. At the ABI Annual Spring Meeting, we presented a speaker who discussed how to get the most out of your PDA.
How can a Young or New Member of ABI become involved in the Technology and Telecom Committee?
Just sign up, ask to be added to the committee and then volunteer to write articles, manage the listserve, or serve on a subcommittee.
