Online Features of Interest to Consumer Bankruptcy Committee Members

  • ABI has produced a DVD to help consumers better manage their finances, while explaining the basics of bankruptcy procedure with a grant from the National Association of Attorneys General. “Taking Charge of Your Finances” is hosted by Hon. Leif M. Clark (W.D. Texas) and is available online at ABI World.

  • Read a recent Cracking the Code article, entitled "The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Low-Cost Food Plan," by Mark Lino. For more than 100 years, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has prepared guides people may use to select nutritious diets at different cost levels. The Low-cost Food Plan is often used by bankruptcy courts to determine the portion of a bankruptee's income to allocate to necessary individual or household food expenses. To give bankruptcy courts a better understanding of the Low-cost Food Plan, this article will describe the plan in more detail.
