ABI To Sponsor Breakfast at AALS Annual Meeting in New York City, Jan. 4
The ABI will be sponsoring the Friday, Jan 4., main breakfast during the AALS Annual Meeting “Reassessing Our Roles as Scholars and Educators in Light Of Change”, Jan. 2-6, in New York City, The breakfast will be from 7:00 – 8:15 a.m. in the East Suite, Fourth floor, Hilton New York.
Immediately following the breakfast is the Section on Creditors’ and Debtors’ Rights session, “Broke, but not Bankrupt”, from 8:30 - 10:15 a.m., in Nassau B, 2nd Floor, Hilton New York.

Many commentators noted that the BAPCPA amendments make bankruptcy a less desirable alternative for debtors and creditors, or at least a more regulated one. In light of these changes, this program will consider non-bankruptcy alternatives regarding nonpayment of debt. Topics of discussion will focus on state and federal nonbankruptcy laws surrounding lending and debt collection.
16th Annual Duberstein Moot Court Competition
St. John's University School of Law and the American Bankruptcy Institute will again sponsor the 16th Annual Chief Judge Conrad B. Duberstein National Bankruptcy Memorial Moot Court Competition to be held at St. John's University March 8 - 10, 2008 in New York. Following the competition, the Gala Awards Dinner will be held at Pier 60 in New York.
