Young & New Members Committee Events at ABI’s 27th Annual Spring Meeting
Join us at ABI's 27th Annual Spring Meeting in National Harbor, Md., and meet your colleagues and fellow members of the Young & New Members Committee (YNMC). In addition to the exciting main tent events sponsored by ABI, we invite you to the following YNMC-sponsored events:
Ambassador Reception
If you are new to ABI and are going to the Annual Spring Meeting, be sure to attend the ABI Ambassador Reception, which will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. New ABI members are assigned senior ABI members - or Ambassadors - to facilitate their introduction to ABI, helping the new member identify ways to become more involved, and assisting them in integrating into the organization by providing opportunities to meet and network with other ABI members. We encourage all new members to participate.
Committee Educational Session
On Friday, April 3, 2009 at 4:00 p.m., the Young and New Members Committee and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee will present a joint program titled "The Bankruptcy Boom is Here: Are You Prepared for the Exponential Growth of Bankruptcy Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution?" Attendees will hear from the experts on how to build a mediation practice, draft effective mediation orders, plan confirmation provisions and similar matters that will lead to your success in bankruptcy mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
The program will feature a panel of experts in the area, including Moderator Judge Kevin Gross, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware; C. Edward Dobbs, Parker Hudson Rainer & Dobbs, Atlanta; H. Kenneth Lefoldt, Jr., Lefoldt & Co., Ridgeland, Miss.; and Ian Connor Bifferato, Bifferato Gentilotti LLC, Wilmington, Del. Their discussion will cover a number of key issues affecting ADR and mediation in bankruptcy today, such as the pros and cons of the process, local rules that require mediation and ADR, selection and compensation of neutrals, and how to development a practice as a neutral.
YNMC Table
Look for the first ABI committee table at the Spring Meeting. Most important, this table is sponsored by the YNMC. Meet the YNMC leadership and talk about how you can get more involved in the ABI, or just stop by and say "hello." We look forward to seeing you!
