Catherine L. Steege negotiated a $380 million settlement of claims against USA Gymnastics (USAG) in its chapter 11 case and served as lead counsel when USAG faced claims by gymnasts alleging negligence in supervising a doctor who assaulted hundreds of female athletes. She represented ad hoc working groups of distributors, pharmacies and drug manufacturers in the Purdue Pharma, Mallinckrodt and Endo chapter 11 cases and also has an extensive appellate practice, including arguing Wellness International Network v. Sharif in the U.S. Supreme Court and serving as counsel in Law v. Siegel and City of Chicago v. Fulton before the Supreme Court.

Jessica C. Lauria serves as the lead restructuring counsel for the Boy Scouts of America in connection with its historic chapter 11 proceedings. She has served as lead restructuring counsel on several large, complex chapter 11 cases, including to Johnson & Johnson in connection with the chapter 11 case of LTL Management, 3M Company in connection with the chapter 11 case of Aearo Technologies, and New Residential Investment Corp., a publicly traded REIT, for a major original equipment manufacturer in connection with the high-profile and complex U.S. bankruptcy cases of Takata.

Richard G. Mason chaired and represented the Ad Hoc Committee of Local Councils, which, under Ricky’s leadership, galvanized the BSA’s more than 250 independent local councils to help create the largest settlement fund of its kind in U.S. history. In recognition of Ricky’s key role in the settlement, the BSA announced the naming of the Richard G. Mason Fire Ring in a central gathering place at the BSA’s iconic Philmont Scout Ranch. Ricky has been involved with many of the largest and most complex bankruptcies and out-of-court restructurings in the U.S. and elsewhere, including Delphi Corp., Kerzner International, Energy Future Holdings, Bristow Helicopters, Hawker Beechcraft, Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority and LATAM Airlines.

Tancred Schiavoni

Tancred Schiavoni represents insurance and reinsurance companies in a variety of disputes, including bad-faith claims and environmental coverage litigation. Tanc has represented carriers in cases in a number of states, including New Jersey, New York and New Hampshire. He also has conducted and assisted in mediations and provided coverage advice to clients to assist them in avoiding disputes without the need for litigation. Tanc participated at trial in the defense of a major environmental coverage action involving multiple parties and claims for coverage exceeding $500 million, and was involved in the trial of another major multiparty coverage dispute involving coverage claims in a dozen states and Canada.

Steinfeld Jr. serves as ASK’s representative as a founding member of the Coalition of Abused Scouts for Justice. With more than 40 years of litigation and appellate experience, Joe serves a broad client base and is involved in the nation’s most significant bankruptcy and mass tort cases. Joe’s practice concentrates on the intersection of bankruptcy and mass tort law, and he has argued cases at district and bankruptcy courts, nearly all U.S. courts of appeals and at the U.S. Supreme Court, where he argued the case of Reiter v. Cooper, 507 U.S. 258 (1993).
